GULFSHORE LIFE MAGAZINE: BEYOND COASTAL CONTEMPORARY [vc_separator type='transparent' position='center' color='' thickness='' up='10px' down='10px'] BY Artis Henderson DESIGNER: Calusa Bay Design BUILDER: Knauf-Koenig Group ARCHITECT: Stofft Cooney Architects PHOTOGRAPHER: Amber Frederiksen *See complete list of credits at end of article When the four-company team behind this four-bedroom, six-bath Pelican Bay home sat down to create their design, they knew they wanted to bring the best of the Gulfshore to the property. That meant a sense of light and airiness, an integration of organic textures and a nod to coastal colors that went beyond traditional shades. At the table were Leslie Sherman, principal owner of Calusa Bay Development, a designer team from Calusa Bay Design, builder Matt Knauf of Knauf-Koenig Group and architect John Cooney of Stofft Cooney Architects. The 4,617-square-foot home was built around a central great room with an open floor plan that speaks to the updated but casual nature of the house. The designers wanted the space to be both functional and usable for the owners, their family and their guests, and having one great versus separate family and living rooms helped create a sense of flow and open space. Because the major rooms of the home merge into one another, the design team focused on creating individual...

FLORIDA DESIGN MAGAZINE - NAPLES EDITION Creating Coastal Elegance, January 1, 2017 [vc_separator type='transparent' position='center' color='' thickness='' up='10px' down='10px'] TO CREATE A LOOK OF CASUAL ELEGANCE FOR THIS SPACIOUS NAPLES HOME IN PELICAN BAY, A DESIGN TEAM ENHANCES A NEUTRAL PALETTE WITH COASTAL COLORS AND NATURAL LIGHT When builder Matt Knauf teamed with designers Leslie Sherman, Tatum Johansson and Michael Hayes to create this 6,786-square-foot spec home in Naples, Fla., they wanted to design a home that was casual, comfortable and elegant with a touch of coastal influence. “We were interested in building a clean coastal home with lighter finishes for walls and floors, and lighter stained wood elements outdoors,” Knauf says. “We wanted the finishes and design to be unique compared to some of the other homes in Naples.” From the beginning, Knauf liked this property because of its very private cul- de-sac location that was ideal for luscious landscaping. Working with the design team was a perfect collaboration from start to finish. “As a designer, it was a dream to be able to choose whatever we wanted, without limitations, in order to create a unique and appealing home for our clients,” Johansson says. COASTAL CHIC - A UNIQUE TAKE ON CLASSIC DESIGN Home & Design Magazine, May 6, 2016 [vc_separator type='transparent' position='center' color='' thickness='' up='10px' down='10px'] To create a sophisticated coastal dream home with a tropical flair was the intention of both Matt Knauf, owner and general contractor with Knauf-Koenig Group, and architect Falconer Jones of Falcon Design when they teamed up to work on this beauty of a home nestled on a quiet street in the heart of Pelican Bay. “We chose this lot because of its generous size, fantastic location, and southern exposure. It has a gorgeous backyard that opens up to create a spacious and private outdoor oasis. The difficulty was the cul de sac, our challenge was to design a home with fantastic curb appeal that maximizes the less than generous front yard space,” Knauf explains. To make the most of the lot, the team designed a unique floor plan that was both comfortable and luxurious. They wanted to come up with a fresh take on the popular coastal look. Their objective was to design an amazing home with every detail well thought out and executed with the highest quality craftsmanship. The result? An expansive 4,864 square foot, open concept, coastal dream home with...
